There's A Water Sport for Everyone

Whether you’re cruising through the water on a pair of skis or your trusty board, you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a great time.

Water sports bring us together like few diversions can, letting every member of the family have their turn at a truly thrilling experience—even if you’re mere miles from home.

But even though every water sport is a real treat, we all still have our favorites—the sports that are best suited to our unique style and personality. What’s yours?

Today, we’re exploring different water sports to help you find your favorite—or maybe try out a new one altogether! Take a look.

For those who are just starting out…

Maybe you’ve never done water sports before—or maybe you’re looking for ways to introduce a child to the world of on-the-water thrills. Either way, tubing is a fantastic sport to start with. It employs the basic premise of towed water sports—hold on and enjoy the ride! –while still giving riders a chance to familiarize themselves with speed and thrill of the water without needing to stand up or try anything especially tricky. (Those all come later!)

Tubing is equally great for those who love the social side of water sports. You don’t need to be a beginner to have fun cruising and bouncing along the water’s surface—in fact, if you have a couple of friends and a big-enough tube, this is the perfect sport for the whole crew to enjoy! You’re sure to be laughing all the way through.

For those who have mastered the snow…

Maybe you’ve transplanted from a winter sports destination to a spot known for its endless summers. The skills you learned while skiing in the snow, clad in puffy jackets and warm wooly hats, don’t have to go to waste—use them as the basis for your new preferred pastime, waterskiing!

This sport is similar to its on-land counterpart in a variety of ways. Both employ a pair of skis and using your hands to maintain your balance. The medium, of course, is a little different, but waterskiing wins in a big way in this respect. In this sport, even falling can be fun—what’s not to love about plunging into the cool blue water after a successful skiing run around the lake?

For those who have a dramatic flair…

If your love of water sports is fueled by a passion for dramatic flair—for flips, turns and slick moves that “wow” those on and off the water—you might be a wakeboarder at heart. This sport lends itself to the kind of shocking aerials and one-of-a-kind moves you simply can’t find on land. Aided by the traction of the rope and the naturally slick surface of the water, the opportunities are endless for those who love embracing new thrills on the water.

For those who love the carefree call of the waves…

Those who surf know that it’s not just a sport, but a way of life—characterized by carefree fun and a passion for the hands-free, immersive experience of riding with the water. We don’t think you need to live on the ocean to embrace that lifestyle! Wakesurfing is the ultimate meshing of aquatic fun with the dreamy escape of the ocean’s waves and swells. It lets you leave your hands free to move up, down or around your sides as you seek to balance yourself against the never-ending wave made by your boat.

One thing’s for sure: whether you’re a high-octane thrill-seeker or prefer easygoing runs around the lake, your Vortex can help you do it all.
