Navigating Boat Show Season, Water Sports Style

Ah, boat show season. Even when the water’s too cold to cruise, board or ski in, there are plenty of opportunities to stay in touch with your aquatic side.

Of course, browsing the boat show floor is different for everyone. Some are looking for new boats to ride into the 2019 season in style; others simply want to pick up new tricks and tackle tips for their upcoming angling adventures. Still others, like you, might be looking for ways to keep the adventure alive—to stay up-to-date with the latest board and ski technology on the market.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at boat show season—and how you can cruise your way through it as a lover of all things water sports. Just read on!

Look for demos…

One of our favorite parts of boat show season, from a water sports perspective, is the wealth of demos going on displaying new technologies (as well as new ways to ride our tried-and-true classics). These live displays can happen regardless of the weather outside—because even if it’s “frightful,” indoor shows often have demo pools where the action take place with ease.

And if you’re a visual learner, or simply someone who always wants to be up-to-date with the latest moves and maneuvers, live demos offer an exciting way to experience fun on the water—sometimes, you might even have the chance to try them out yourself right there at the show! Such is the case at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, for example, where the Aquazone By Nautical Ventures exhibit will offer guests the chance to try hands-on testing of some of the technologies and activities on display.

Bottom line? It’s worth the time to check out these demos, no matter the boat show.

… and fresh technology

As you browse the boat show floor, be on the lookout for fresh technology being exhibited. You never know what oddball device might turn into your new favorite way to ride the water!

Be open to new adventures

It’s easy to get used to your water sports routine—maybe you’re a devout wakeboarder, or a water skier through-and-through. But be sure to stay open to new adventures, too! Your trip to the boat show may sway you to try out a new sport, perhaps one you never even heard of before.

Learn the lay of the land

Even in cool, less boat-friendly weather, boat shows (near and far) offer the chance to discover new surroundings. You can drive by a new lake or up the coast to plot out your adventure for your spring or summer opening—after all, what better way to enjoy the off-season than by planning for long, sunny, endless days on the water?

Need a better boat?

Don’t forget—in addition to your board and tow rope, a good sports boat is key to your set of “gear” for on-the-water fun! In addition to visiting with gear, board, ski and style outfitters at your next show, be sure to browse through the Vortex boats on display to see how a new, cutting-edge design can help make your life on the water even better—and faster.

Ready for boat show season? Now that you’ve got the tips, be sure to stay up-to-date with Vortex to learn about upcoming shows and events.
